LAWRENCE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

Five people are in the hospital in stable condition after a crash involving an SUV and a tractor pulling a hay baler.

Three of the victims had to be airlifted from the crash scene near Moulton.

It happened on Highway 24 at the 53 mile marker in Lawrence County, just east of Moulton around 2 p.m.

State police investigators said the tractor and the SUV were traveling eastbound when the SUV hit the tractor. The impact was so violent that all four doors from the SUV were ripped off and became lodged in the baler.

Four people in the SUV, 37-year-old Christopher Melson, 33-year-old Nekisha Melson, 10-year-old Jasmine Harville and 7-year-old Madison Harville were taken to the hospital, two by medflight and two by ambulance. All have been listed in stable condition.

The man driving the tractor, 65-year-old Grady Murphree, was medflighted to Huntsville Hospital and is now in stable condition.
