BIRMINGHAM, AL (WAFF) -
Federal authorities say two recent bank robberies in north Alabama were committed by the same person.
The first robbery happened in Guntersville on August 2nd at the People's Bank on Highway 431. In that incident, the offender handed the teller a note saying he had a weapon and demanded money. He walked away with about $800. A State Trooper helicopter was brought in to search for the subject.
On August 8th, investigators say the same man robbed the Priceville branch of Traditions Bank in Decatur. Surveillance photos of the robber show that he got away with a wad of cash in his hand. He fled the scene and canine units attempted to track him down.
The subject has not been caught and the FBI is asking for assistance in solving the robberies.
The suspect is described as a black male, wearing glasses, a band aid across his nose, in his mid to late 20's, approximately 5'10" to 6'0 feet tall, and weighing approximately 140 to 150 pounds.
A reward is being offered for the arrest and conviction of this individual. Anyone with information is asked to contact local law enforcement or the FBI's Birmingham office at (205) 326-6166.
