HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
State officials said an online hoax is spreading mis-information about voting in Alabama.
Secretary of State Beth Chapman said e-mails and facebook posts claim you need to re-register to vote in November if you have not voted since 2008, which is not true.
Chapman said if you're a registered voter, your name will still be on the voter list whether you've voted in the past or not. It is illegal to take someone's name off of the list for not casting a ballot.
Thursday, Huntsville City leaders are going to explain the election process for city, county, state and national races. Election officials will talk about important deadlines, plus what you need to know before heading to the polls. WAFF 48 News will have a crew at the meeting. We will post updates here and on WAFF 48 News.
