Benefiting from five unanswered runs, the Huntsville Stars rolled to a
5-3 victory against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos on Monday night at Joe Davis Stadium. In his second start with the Stars, Johnny Hellweg improved to 2-0 on the year after giving up three runs on five hits through five innings while walking seven batters. Aside from Hellweg, the Stars bullpen held the Blue Wahoos without a hit for the final four innings. Following a scoreless inning from LHP Dan Meadows and two frames from RHP Kyle Heckathorn, RHP Darren Byrd sent down Pensacola in order in the ninth for his sixth save on the season. On offense, the Stars got an run-scoring triple and two RBI from first baseman Hunter Morris and an RBI double from both right fielder Kentrail Davis and catcher Anderson De La Rosa. Hellweg also helped out his own cause with an RBI single, which was good for his first ever professional hit. The win for the Stars was their third in a row and clinch their fourth consecutive series win. Huntsville is now at
.500 (57-57) for the first time since June 26th.
The final game of a five-game series and a ten-game homestand will take place on Tuesday. First pitch is at 6:43.
