MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -
The first bank robbery trial in Madison County in two decades is underway.
Maurice King is accused of robbing the Regions Bank in Meridianville in April of 2011. Investigators said King and David
Lewis Fifer, both from Memphis, Tennessee, robbed the bank and fled the scene in a silver Honda
Civic.
After a police pursuit, the suspects crashed the stolen rental car in a cemetery in Winchester, Tennessee.
Opening statements began Monday after lunch. In the past, bank robbery trials have been handled by federal prosecutors.
