MUSCLE SHOALS, AL (WAFF) -
A sizable amount of guns was stolen in a weekend pawn shop burglary, according to agents with the ATF.
Burglars broke into The Pawn Shop on Woodward Avenue some time over the weekend. The burglars cut power to the building and got in through the back door, which is now boarded up. Since the power was cut, the security cameras did not capture any images of the thieves, according to investigators.
Muscle Shoals police and ATF responded to the scene Monday morning. Investigators said the offenders got away with more than 100 guns, including pistols and long guns.
"Any time there's any kind of weapon out there that we cannot account for is going to be a concern to us, but especially when we have such a large quantity of weapons like we're talking about now," said Robert Evans, with Muscle Shoals Police Department. "It's definitely a concern to us because you don't know what the intent of the people that have the weapons are."
The business was shut down and posted a sign on the door that said they are "closed due to inventory."
