Hartselle pair arrested on drug charges

LAWRENCE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - Lawrence County deputies arrested two people on drug charges after the suspects attempted to run from police.

Sheriff Gene Mitchell said deputies attempted to stop a vehicle for traffic violations, when the driver refused to pull over and began throwing pills out of the window.

When agents pulled the vehicle over, they said the driver, Christopher Orr of Hartselle, threw two boxes of pseudo ephedrine, a key ingredient for manufacturing meth, out of the car. Agents took Orr and his passenger, Jessica Hunt, also of Hartselle, into custody.

Investigators said the couple received the boxes of pills from another person and they were on the way to deliver the pills to a meth cook in Morgan County. Orr also told agents he was on probation for an unrelated drug charge.

Orr and Hunt were arrested on one count of unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance, one count of attempting to elude, one count of possession of drug paraphernalia and one count of criminal littering.
