HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

A man who accidentally shot himself outside an Irish pub Sunday night will not face charges.

The 26-year-old told police he was walking across the parking lot at Finnegan's Pub on Memorial Parkway when he tripped and fell.

That's when the .38 special revolver in his pocket went off and hit him in the leg.

He went to the hospital and is expected to be fine.

Police said the man had a permit to carry the gun.
