DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -
Athens Police Department arrested two Decatur men Saturday evening in connection with a shooting that occurred in Athens late Friday night.
Police said friends found Steven Morrissey, 28, shot in his home shortly after midnight Saturday morning and called for help. Morrissey suffered a one gunshot wound between his eyebrows from what police believe is a .45 caliber handgun.
At least two people were identified as suspects, Dewey Bishop and Brandon Latham. Police met with Latham Saturday when he led investigators to a residence housed with items he stole from Morrissey after the shooting incident. Police recovered guns, computers and others items, and after an additional interview conducted Sunday, at least three additional guns were surrendered to police.
Bishop, 30, was charged with a one count of attempted murder, theft of property and unlawful breaking and entering for thefts that occurred after the shooting. Latham, 32, was charged with one count of theft of property.
Both men were booked in the Limestone County Jail.
