SHEFFIELD, AL (WAFF) -
Sheffield Police have made an arrest in a 2011 death investigation.
Police arrested 32-year-old Brian Martin and charged him with the 2011 shooting of his father, Donice "BooBoo" Scott.
Scott was shot in the chest and died at Helen Keller Hospital.
Martin said he shot his father in self-defense. He told police he went to his father's house in Tuscumbia. He said Scott met him at the door with a sword, and he shot him in self-defense.
He was arrested the night of the shooting but later released.
A grand jury indicted him with murder. He is being held in Colbert County Jail on $75,000 bond.
