GADSDEN, AL (WAFF) -
Gadsden police are investigating a shooting where a woman was shot from a stray bullet inside her living room.
Investigators responded Thursday night around 8:00 p.m. after a family heard gunfire and noticed one person was injured at their home in the 1500 block of Gadsden Avenue.
Candice Stapler, the victim, told police that their dog had barked at two men passing the house. One of the men pulled a gun from his waist band and said he was going to shoot he dog as they walked away. After the incident, Stapler and her family went inside their home.
A short time later they heard the gunfire and Stapler noticed she had been shot. Crews took Stapler to Riverview for treatment where her injuries were not life threatening.
Police are looking for two young black males, one with a light complexion wearing a white shirt and shorts and other with a dark complexion wearing a blue shirt and khaki shorts. If anyone has information about this shooting, please contact Detective Clark Hopper at 256-549-4653.
