Three Huntsville Stars pitchers combined to one-hit the Chattanooga Lookouts en route to a 5-1 victory on Wednesday night at Joe Davis Stadium. In his Huntsville Stars debut, starting pitcher Johnny Hellweg was spectacular, earning a victory after giving up just one hit and one unearned run while striking out seven in five innings.
Releivers Dan Meadows and Kyle Heckathorn pitched four hitless innings to finish off the night. On offense, the Stars got two hits apiece from left fielder Lee Haydel, shortstop Jean Segura, second baseman Scooter Gennett and first baseman Hunter Morris. Gennett added a double and two RBI while Morris added two doubles and one RBI.
The rubbermatch of a five-game series will take place on Thursday as the Stars will send RHP Jimmy Nelson (1-0, 5.87 ERA) to the mound.
