GADSDEN, AL (WAFF) -
Nearly 140 animals were rescued from deplorable living conditions at a home in east Gadsden.
It happened on north 8th Street Tuesday afternoon. Dozens of dogs, cats and birds were found at the home.
Members with the Gadsden Humane Society said it was one the largest number of birds they've ever had to rescue.
They said it is always hard to walk into such situations and witness the kinds of living conditions the animals are in.
"You get really angry with the supposed caretakers, if you will. You get really angry with them and you just want to help the animals and get them out of the situation that they are in at no matter what cost," said Jolie Entrekin.
The animals will all be checked out by a veterinarian. Gadsden Police said no charges have been filed yet.
