MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -
Officials have confirmed that armed robbery at the New Market Drugs Store on Winchester Road Tuesday is connected to a Limestone County robbery at Joe's Pharmacy.
According to the pharmacy business owner, Billy Poe, there were six people in the store at the time of the New Market robbery.
Poe said two men armed with a gun entered and demanded roxycodone, xanax, loritabs and muscle relaxers. He said the men fired one shot into the ceiling. Poe said they grabbed about $150 in cash and armloads of prescription drugs then ran out the door.
Witnesses Justin Casteel and Garrett Campbell were across the street when they heard the shot inside the store and went over to check it out. When they arrived, they saw two men with a handful of prescription drugs running out of the store.
Witnesses said the two robbers pointed guns and fired shots at them and then ran behind the building. No one was injured. The robbers also took keys to the building and to a car.
Deputies ended up chasing them down Highway 72 in Gurley. More than a dozen patrol cars and unmarked cars caught up to the suspects, stopped them, and arrested them.
Clarence Turner, 23, Davaron Love, 24, Tavaris McCartney, 27, and Cordaryl Turner, 25, were all charged with two counts of first degree robbery and taken to the Metro Jail without bond.
Limestone County officials have obtained warrants for Turner's arrest in connect with a July 12 robbery at the Joe's Pharmacy. Investigators said men walked in and stole prescription pills and the keys from a pharmacist.
Officials said Turner confessed to the robbery at Joe's Pharmacy.
According to court records, all four suspects have lengthy criminal records. They all previously faced charges ranging from theft and robbery to assault.
Investigators are still working to determine if other men could have been involved.
