LAWRENCEBURG, TN (WAFF) -
A Lawrenceburg woman was arrested and charged with child abuse and neglect after her children were found to be living in "deplorable conditions."
Investigators with the Lawrenceburg Police Department arrested 23-year-old Jenna L. Nixon after they responded to her residence earlier in July and found her three young children living in filth.
They said they found dirty bedding and cockroaches inside the home and the children suffered from multiple bug bites and rashes.
The three small children, ages 17 months, 3-years-old, and 4-years-old, were placed into DCS custody and taken to the hospital to be treated for their rashes.
Nixon was charged with three counts of child abuse/neglect and booked into the Lawrence County jail where she is being held on $15,000 bond.
She is scheduled to appear in court on September 7th.
