LAWRENCE COUNTY, AL (WAFF)
Lawrence County Sheriff Gene Mitchell said a lending company employee stole a customer's credit card number and used it to make purchases.
Mitchell said 29-year-old Shelby Lynn Jones obtained the credit car information while working for a Decatur area lending company. She apparently kept the card number after processing a home refinance loan and used it a short time later.
The Sheriff's Department worked with corporate officials at the lending institution and were able to gain evidence in the case. Jones was fired from her job when the corporate office learned of her criminal activity.
Jones was charged with one count of fraudulent use of a credit card and released from the Lawrence County Jail after posting a $5,000 bond.
