HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
Emergency crews responded to a wreck around 4:30 a.m. Monday. It happened on the service lane of South Parkway at the intersection of Max Luther.
Police said a car ran off the road and hit an embankment in front of the Wells Fargo bank. They said the car went air born and hit a light pole, snapping the light pole off its base.
That's when the car started flipping. The driver was ejected and the car landed on the driver.
Police were able to get the driver out from under the car and HEMSI rushed him to the hospital in critical condition. His injuries have since been lessened to serious.
A passenger in the car suffered minor injuries.
Police said alcohol and speed may have been factors in the wreck.
