Sunday, Arkansas State Head Football Coach Gus Malzahn dismissed junior running back Michael Dyer from the team for violating team rules.

The university issued a statement Sunday night:  "I am truly disappointed that it didn't work out here at ASU for Mike," said Malzahn.  "I wish Mike nothing but the best in the future."

The statement also read, "the University respects and protects the privacy rights of its student-athletes and has no further comment."

On July 20th, Coach Malzahn and Dyer met the media in a joint news conference where Dyer reaffirmed his commitment to play in 2013 at ASU.  Dyer was ruled ineligible for the 2012 season by the NCAA.  Most athletes must sit out one season when transferring from on Division 1 school to another.  The NCAA denied Dyer's waiver to play this season.

Dyer decided to leave Auburn after off the field troubles last season.  Dyer is a Little Rock, Arkansas native.
