MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -
The State Committee of Public Health added propofol to the
Alabama Controlled Substances list.
Propofol is commonly used as a sedative during surgeries,
but officials said its potential for misuse and fast acting qualities landed it
on the list.
The list divides drugs into five schedules based on abuse
potential. Propofol was deemed a schedule four.
The new scheduling will take effect August 27.
