ALBERTVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
An Army officer came home to Albertville with a piece of history to donate to the local museum.
Lt. Colonel Dolph Southerland presented a special flag to the Albertville Museum in a ceremony Friday morning.
The flag was the last of several flown on his last deployment. They were flown for one hour each during the 10th anniversary of 9-11.
Southerland said it was a time to pause and reflect, and he hopes it will be the same for museum goers.
"Hopefully, this flag and a little certificate that I'm going to present the museum will provide an opportunity for people coming to visit the museum the same opportunity," he said.
Southerland said he recently gave up his command of the First Squadron Seventh Cavalry out of Fort Hood, Texas.
