Four athletes that call or have called Alabama home will compete for medals in London starting Saturday.

Michael McPahil from Phenix City will compete in the prone rifle and three position rifle events.

Sgt. First Class Eric Uptagrafft, also from Phenix City, will compete in the three-position rifle, air rifle, and prone rifle, but he is known to many as the rifle instructor for the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit, consistently responsible for producing some of the best shooters in the United States.

Uptagrafft's wife, Sandra, will also shoot at the Olympics. Her events are women's sport pistol and women's 10m air pistol. The two will celebrate their wedding anniversary while in London.

And then there's Trey Hardee, who is in the Vestavia High School Hall of Fame, will complete in the decathlon.
