MEMPHIS, TN -
(WMC-TV) - Teresa Mays was married to Adam Mayes and is behind bars in Hardeman County along with Adam Mayes mother. Both women are charged in the murders of JoAnne Bain and her 14 year-old daughter, Adrienne.
"If you look at the pictures you can see she's always had disabilities,"
Teresa Mayes' sister, Bobbi Booth told Action News 5 in June.
Booth said that her sister had a mental evaluation in Nashville. That mental evaluation was confirmed by District Attorney, Mike Dunavant. But it is clear from Booth's recent conversation with her sister that Teresa Mayes may still not fully comprehend her situation.
Booth says her sister told her that she had a plea deal to plead guilty to the death penalty or life without parole. Booth said her sister was "giggly" and did not get upset about the plea deals. She also asked about Booth's children.
Investigators say Teresa Mayes watched her husband Adam kill Joann and Adrienne Bain. And His mother Mary was aware he was digging a grave behind her house in Mississippi.
Booth said both women were afraid for their lives.
Action News 5 tried to contact Teresa Mayes attorney but our call was not returned.
At this point the next hearing date for Teresa Mayes had not been set.
