MORGAN COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -
Authorities made a massive meth bust in Morgan County Thursday.
Deputies responded to a home for a welfare check on Red Bud Lane off Upper River Road near Priceville just before 5 p.m. They moved in after getting warrants in connection with the Department of Human Resources.
Sheriff Ana Franklin said this is a red phosphorus meth lab, which is extremely dangerous.
Agents arrested 44-year-old Kelly Wayne Howard and his wife, 34-year-old Heather Howard. The Howards have three children, ages 12, 6 and 4.
Both the parents were charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance. Authorities said they may not finish decontaminating the home until late Friday afternoon.
Deputies said this is the first meth lab of its kind they have seen in nine years.
