ELKMONT, AL (WAFF) -
Authorities identified the teen killed in a Tuesday night wreck as Kayla Rachelle Allen-Maynard of Elkmont.
Investigators made the positive identification through the 17-year-old's dental records. Allen's body was badly burned after her car crashed into a tree on Easter Ferry Road just before midnight Tuesday.
The impact of the crash knocked the engine loose, which caused the car to burst into flames. When firefighters responded to the scene, they put out the fire and found Allen's body inside.
Her body was taken to Huntsville for an autopsy. Investigators are still looking into the cause of the accident.
A candlelight vigil will be held at the Flint River Baptist Church Thursday at 8 p.m.
