HUNSTVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
A death investigation is underway after a man shot and killed his son in their Huntsville home.
It happened at the corner of Westwood Drive and Bragg Street sometime after midnight Thursday.
Police said 37-year-old Michael Alexander Button was shot twice and died at the scene.
Investigators said an apparent domestic situation got out of hand and the father shot Button with a handgun.
The father called 911 and turned himself in when officers arrived.
Neighbors who live close by said the father -- whose name is withheld -- was an engineer by trade and has been a resident of Huntsville for many years.
No charges have been filed and the investigation is ongoing.
