ELKMONT, AL (WAFF) -
Firefighters and State Troopers responded to a call about a car on fire on Easter Ferry Road just before midnight Tuesday.
Crews said when they arrived, the car was fully engulfed. When the fire was extinguished, crews found a body inside.
Troopers believe the driver of the Dodge Stratus lost control, ran off the road and hit a tree. They believe the impact knocked the engine loose which caused the car to burst into flames.
The coroner took the body to the forensics lab in Huntsville for an autopsy.
Troopers said they can't tell if the victim is a man or woman.
