HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Huntsville Stars' outfielder Kentrail Davis has been named the Southern League's Hitter of the Week for the week of July 16-22.
During that week, the 24-year-old hit .450 (9-for-20) in six games with a double, three triples, one home run and three RBIs. He scored six runs, walked three times and stole a base. The Alabama native is hitting .272 (85-for-313) on the season with 15 doubles, six triples, four home runs and 27 RBIs. He's stolen 15 bases, second most on the team behind Josh Prince (36).
In 2011, Davis spent the entire season with High-A Brevard County Manatees, batting .245 in 132 games. He was originally drafted by the Brewers in the first round (39th overall) of the 2009 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Tennessee.
The Stars continue a nine-game road trip with the start of a five-game series in Pensacola tonight at 7 p.m. They return home for a ten-game homestand on Sunday, July 29 with Show Your (AAA) Card and Save and Super Soaker Sunday.
