SCOTTSBORO, AL (WAFF) -

A warrant filed in court revealed a municipal court official with the city of Scottsboro was stealing money.

Jill Dover, 38, of Henagar was charged with stealing $12,000 of city funds. According to court records, Dover appeared to have had money problems.

Dover was arrested Monday on first degree theft charges by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation. She is accused of stealing the money while working as a clerk in the Scottsboro Municipal Court Clerk's Office.

According to the warrant, the theft took place around May 3.

In the last couple of months, court records also showed two credit companies filed claims against Dover for non-payment of more than a thousand dollars.

Scottsboro Mayor Melton Potter said she is no longer employed with the city.

Dover was released on a $25,000 bond.
