MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -
Parents get ready - most districts return to school in less than a month.
Tuesday, three North Alabama school systems launched a new program to keep kids engaged.
Country music singer Michael Peterson created the TAG You're It! program. It identifies students' talents and gifts, helps them care about school, and helps them overcome challenges.
TAG You're It! will debut in Huntsville City, Madison City, and Madison County schools this year.
"Attitude is important. Kids that believe they can do things achieve amazing results," said Dr. Casey Wardynski, Huntsville City Schools Superintendent. "Our counselors work with them all the time to do that, and this program is designed to help them do that and begin the school year with a very positive outlook."
Administrators will observe the program for two consecutive school years to collect data before deciding whether to launch it at the state or national level.
