JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies broke up a party in Mulga after finding out through parents and Facebook that minors would be present.

Steven Carroll, 24, of Mulga, is facing an open house party charge after several minors were found in possession of alcohol when deputies arrived.

The Facebook page created for the event advertised there would be beer, kegs, and jello shots.

Authorities said the party was originally planned to be in a field on July 21 near West Jefferson but was moved to Carroll's home when word spread that deputies were in the area.

Jefferson County deputies said they found the location by checking the Facebook page again.

When deputies arrived Saturday night, they found over 300 people, including around 100 minors. They said several of the teens were drinking alcohol or in possession of alcohol.

Deputies broke up the party and called parents to pick up their children.

On Tuesday, authorities issued a warrant for Carroll's arrest for allowing an open house party.

Alabama law prohibits open house parties when alcohol or controlled substances are being illegally possessed or consumed by minors and the adult in charge of the party knows this and takes no reasonable action to prevent it.
