AUBURN – The Auburn women's basketball team concluded its first week of preparation for next month's trip to Australia last week. The team will now take a week-long break before resuming practice on July 31.
"We have learned a lot quicker than what I had anticipated," Coach Terri Williams-Flournoy said. "We are still trying to grasp a little bit on defense, but the biggest thing is to get them to play at a higher speed and with more aggression."
For sophomore guard Hasina Muhammad, the week was filled with learning the new system that Coach Flo has put in place.
"It was hard, but we have learned a lot from the new coaching staff," Muhammad said. "We learned a lot about the new offense during drills, and we are really looking forward to see what the season brings."
The Tigers will travel to Australia on Aug. 4, making stops in Cairns, Brisbane and Sydney. Auburn will play four games on the trip, taking on the Logan Thunder and Sydney Flames of the WNBL, the Cairns Dolphins of the Queensland Basketball League and the Sutherland Sharks of the Australia-State League.
