ALBERTVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
Police arrested a man who robbed his own grandmother in Marshall County.
Albertville Police said Derrick Smith, 20, robbed his 73-year-old grandmother on May 19th.
Smith was arrested Friday and charged with robbery.
Albertville Police said Smith stole $180 from his grandmother and then forced her to drive to Wells Fargo Bank in Boaz.
Officers said Smith forced the elderly woman to withdrawal $300 from the ATM.
Police said Smith was living with his grandmother at the time. They believe Smith had a drug problem and needed money from his grandmother to fund his habit.
The woman told police she feared for life and was scared Smith would hurt her if she did not do what he told her to do.
Smith was booked in the Marshall County Jail on a $150,000 bond.
