HUNTSVILLE, AL (AP) -
Congregants of a Huntsville church snacked on Moon Pies and Tang before heading into the sanctuary to commemorate an astronaut's "lunar communion" 43 years ago.
On July 20, 1969, Buzz Aldrin took communion on the moon during one of NASA's lunar missions.
Pastor Dale Clem of Monte Sano United Methodist Church in Huntsville says his church is 1 of 2 that commemorates the event. The Presbyterian church that Aldrin attends in Houston is the other one.
Congregants of the Huntsville church also watched video of the first moon landing and sang hymns about the wonders of space.
Another astronaut who set foot on the moon, Charlie Duke, was the guest of honor.
