NEW MARKET, AL (WAFF) -
The Madison County Sheriff's Department is investigating a shooting incident between neighbors in New Market.
It happened at a home on Noles Drive near Arnold Road sometime before 2 p.m. Saturday.
Sheriff's deputies arrested 24-year-old Erik Shane Wallace later that afternoon.
Deputies at the scene said a man was shot in his leg and was taken to Huntsville Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The mother of the victim's son said the altercation resulted from a long-standing feud between the neighbors' families.
"I just heard the neighbor yelling. So I approached my kid and the father and about the time I got up there he pointed a gun to him and then he shot them twice," Tiara Nance said.
Wallace was charged with first-degree assault and released on a $5,000 bond.
