HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
The Huntsville Police Burglary Task Force announced burglary rates are down and
arrests are up from 2011.
Police said that the number of burglaries from January to
June was down 5.3 percent from 2011. Reports showed that in 2011 there were
1207 burglaries in the six month period while 2012 reported 1143.
Officials also reported that burglary arrests were up 32.2
percent. In 2011, officers made 120 arrests from January to June, and in 2012,
officers made 177 arrests.
Officers said they have cleared 391 or 34.2 percent of
burglary cases for 2012.
