MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - The Alabama Department of Industrial Relations released the unemployment rates for the month of June.
June's unemployment rate was 7.8 percent, .4 percent higher than May.
Officials said more than 168,000 people were listed as unemployed. They said the number is increased because of people looking for seasonal work.
Officials said the number is considerably lower than June 2011. Unemployment numbers in 2011 were 9.3 percent.
Counties with the lowest unemployment were Selby with 6.1 percent, Coffee with 7.3 percent and Limestone with 7.4 percent.
Counties with the highest unemployment were Wilcox with 18.8 percent, Lowndes with 16.5 percent and Dallas with 16.3 percent.
