HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Philip Lee Jr. and Brett Russell sat before the city council Thursday night.  The two men asked for their jobs back after being fired from the force in 2011.

Attorney for the Huntsville Police Department said that Interim Chief Lewis Morris was acting in the best interest of the city when the two men were fired.

During the personnel hearing, it was revealed that in October of 2011, Officer Lee hit a handcuffed suspect with a closed fist and during another incident in December 2011, he yanked a woman out of a car during what police called a rolling domestic.

City Council members decided they will vote on Lee's case at their meeting next week.

Details of what led to Brett Russell's termination weren't fully discussed.  Council members felt they didn't have enough information to make a decision on Russell after they learned they were not given video evidence of the incident by the city.

Russell's case has been continued until further notice.

Russell said that he didn't know what to make of Thursday night's decision because it still leaves his job up for question.

Lee and his attorney declined to comment.
