HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
A large power outage in downtown Huntsville Wednesday
morning has been ruled control wiring failure.
Power was out in areas of downtown for about 30 minutes from 7:30 to 8 a.m. A
number of traffic lights were affected.
The outage was caused when wiring overheated in the station,
causing protection equipment to drop the substation off line.
The wires are routinely tested for issues and the most
recent test did not show a problem.
Technicians are testing the wires to see if the recent heat
caused the damage.
