To begin a four-game set at Joe Davis Stadium, the Huntsville Stars fell to the Birmingham Barons by a score of 12-5 on Saturday night.
Trailing 5-0 after the first inning, the Stars were unable to recover, losing their third game in their last four contests. Huntsville starting pitcher Evan Anundsen was tabbed with the loss, falling to
5-5 on the season after giving up seven runs in 5.1 innings pitched.
On offense, the Stars outhit the Barons 12-10 in a losing effort, getting three hits from third baseman Hainley Statia, and two hits apeice from second baseman T.J Middelstaedt, catcher Anderson De La Rosa and right fielder Kentrail Davis.
Game two of a four-game series will begin on Sunday as the Stars will RHP Johnnie Lowe (0-0, 6.75 ERA) to the hill. First pitch is at 4:03 PM.
