GRANT, AL (WAFF) -
The defense appeared to be wrapping up in an arson
case Friday.
Ella Kennamer took the stand Friday afternoon.
Kennamer was charged with arson and theft by deception after her home burned
down in 2008.
The judge acquitted Kennamer Thursday of arson, citing
the state failed to make their case.
Kennamer still faces a theft by deception charge.
Prosecutors claimed Kennamer moved furniture out of
the home and made claims on it with her insurance company.
State arson investigators later seized the furniture from
a mobile home and two storage units in Hampton Cove.
Kennamer's son, Donald Jones, also faces charges of
arson in relation to the incident but has not been tried yet. The defense could
wrap up their case Friday.
