LAUDERDALE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -
Lauderdale County authorities are investigating an early morning stabbing.
Investigators said 20-year-old Brooke Parrish was stabbed to death between 4:30 and 5 a.m. Friday at the Brush Creek Park campground on Waterloo Road.
Police said two men got into a fight around 11 p.m. Thursday at the campground. One man was taken to the hospital to be treated for stab wounds and the offender ran into the woods.
Witnesses said Parrish, who was related to the injured man, arrived at the campground at 4:30 a.m. and got into an altercation with the man who ran into the woods. Investigators said Raymond Gibson stabbed Parrish and she also stabbed him.
It's unclear how many times each were stabbed. Parrish died at the hospital and the man was taken to the hospital.
Gibson is in custody for separate charges. He has not been charged in the stabbing.
The campground was closed while investigators pieced together what happened.
