Manufacturing expansion brings new jobs to Scottsboro

An auto parts manufacturing company in Scottsboro is expanding its operations. Sanoh America, Inc. will celebrate the grand opening of its new manufacturing space Thursday with a ceremony and open house at 11:00 a.m.

Right now the company mainly makes fuel and brake lines, but officials expect business to boom in the next two years. The new facility will house a welding and technical division. Sanoh is also creating a southern corporate office for the Ohio-based company.

Sanoh recently leased a building across the street from its existing facility on Lonnie Crawford Boulevard in the Scottsboro Industrial Park. The space includes 15,000 square feet of new manufacturing and office space. Inside, workers will be making exhaust recirculation pipes that go into the Honda Accord and the Acura MDX vehicle models. The company is also bidding on other manufacturing contracts.

The company plans to hire 10 additional machine operators to begin operations. When production ramps up in the spring of 2013, officials said they will add about 10 more. They are also in the process of hiring as many as five additional corporate office employees.

The company is making a $2 million capital investment to add the initial phase of the welding and technical division.
