FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) -
Another group that helps others in need is in need of a helping hand.
The Salvation Army said a theft in Florence has impacted their ability to help people needing food aid.
Someone stole dozens of bags of canned goods from the Salvation Army.
The cans had been donated by the Florence Post Office.
Major Donald Wilson said the Salvation Army is pressing on as best they can.
"Just press forward and keep going forward for a while and you know you can get discouraged and disheartened by it, but the good thing is that we know, especially in the community, especially here: they've always had a great respect for the Salvation Army and great supporters," said Wilson.
The Salvation Army said donations are needed and can be dropped off at the shelter in Florence.
The Salvation Army said it has added surveillance cameras to monitor the grounds to prevent thefts in the future.
