LIMESTONE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -
Investigators in Limestone County said a man raped a woman and held her against her will for hours.
The woman was held all night locked in a bathroom duct taped. By morning, the man let her go only to rape her and then tape her back up.
The man is 32-year-old Hugo Roberto Sanchez, who is actually the victim's boyfriend.
It all happened at a home on Ham Road where the 38-year-old victim said Sanchez came home drunk, dragged her out of bed, threw her out in the backyard, tore off her clothes, and then hosed her down with water.
She claims he then took her back into the house, duct-taped her arms and legs, and locked her in the bathroom all night.
In the morning, he woke up, raped her, and then eventually let her go.
Neighbors said they had no idea this was all going on.
"It's pretty scary because nothing like that has happened like that around here. This is a pretty quiet neighborhood and to think something could happen to us, it makes my skin chill," said neighbor Patricia Vega.
The woman never wanted to report the incident. All she wanted was for deputies to help her get her belongings out of the home.
After seeing the bruises on her, they knew there was much more to the story.
She may have never reported the incident because she is an illegal immigrant.
The sheriff said no one deserves that treatment, no matter what.
"This is a very serious case and it doesn't matter if the person is a legal immigrant or illegal; no human being should be treated that way and they still have the same rights and the protection of the law to not expect to be a victim," said Limestone County Sheriff Mike Blakely.
32-year-old Sanchez is charged with first degree rape, imprisonment, and domestic violence. He is in jail on a $31,000 bond.
