HAMPTON COVE, AL (WAFF) -
Two fathers take each other to the ground after a little league fight in Georgia.
The fight started when Iram King, 36, asked Charles Davidson, 38, to lower the music he was playing after a Friday night game between the Northern Little League and Harris County All-Stars had just ended at an all-star tournament outside Columbus, GA, according to the Ledger-Enquirer newspaper.
Davidson, the father of a child on the winning Northern Little League team, reportedly regularly plays music between innings of the team's games and was playing "All I Do Is Win," the Auburn University rally song, at the players' request.
He turned the music down at King's request, but the two men then began to talk about some of the players in the game, Columbus Police said.
Shortly after, the fathers were fighting.
Parents in Hampton Cove sounded off to the news at a Monday night softball game at Cove Park Field.
"We set the example for the kids," said parent Robert Graham. "If we come out here and act foolish, what can we expect from them? It's sickening to hear of something like that."
Mike Fielding said it's not surprising to see other parents behaving badly.
"It doesn't shock me because you hear of it happening more and more," Fielding said. "Not to say that I haven't been mad or ill, but it's not too shocking."
Fielding said it's up to parents to set the example for how children should respond whether they win or lose.
"They react the way we do," he said. "If my vein pops out, so will theirs. We've got to be held responsible and not let it happen."
Both King and Davidson are headed to court.
Cove Park Field Tournament Supervisor, Steven Lee said he has police presence at every game and if a fight does happen, the suspects would be thrown out of the game and couldn't come back the next day.
