HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

The owner of a Huntsville gift shop hopes surveillance video will help catch a shoplifter.

Security cameras at H. Raines Registry and Gifts, located on Whitesburg Drive, recorded a woman stealing a blouse.

The video showed the woman stuffing the shirt into her purse, even after looking straight at the camera above her.

The merchandise was from Bump Nine, one of eight boutique booths that are set up inside the gift shop.

The booth's owner, Jennifer Bludsworth, sells maternity apparel. She noticed the shirt missing last month. She said she planned to donate it to a charity.

Bludsworth said she knew she didn't sell it, so she and H. Raines owner, Hilary Russell pulled the surveillance video.

"Sure enough, we saw a lady come in and nabbed the shirt, put it in her purse, put the hanger up, and just carried on with her business," Bludsworth said.

The shirt was worth about $83, according to Bludsworth. The shop owners uploaded the video on YouTube hoping someone would recognize the woman.

"This is something we don't take lightly. If you are caught stealing from our store, we're going to do everything we can to protect other businesses in this area," Russell said.

Russell said she paid about $1,000 to install security cameras in her shop. She said it's an investment every small business should consider.

"It's wonderful to known that when we found out that this piece was missing, we could just go and check the tapes and figure this out quickly," she said.

Bludsworth said she is in the process of filing a police report.
