A wreck Friday night near the Space and Rocket Center killed one person just before 8 p.m., and sent another to the hospital.
30-year-old Juantero Gaines died after the 2008 Honda Civic he was riding in flipped onto its side against the guard rail on I565 at Sparkman Drive.
Officials said the driver, 23-year-old Karsten Fritz struck a concrete embankment underneath the overpass, causing the vehicle to flip. Fritz was taken to Huntsville Hospital with minor injuries.
Huntsville Police diverted traffic driving westbound on Interstate 565 to the Sparkman Drive exit for nearly two hours Friday night while the wreck was being cleaned up.
