KILLEN, AL (WAFF) -
People in Killen are still cleaning up from a boat dock that collapsed on Thursday.
Clean-up crews have been out at Emerald Beach Marina all day.
Nearly a dozen boats were damaged during the storm.
Boat owner Pat Roemer said when her son got to the marina Thursday night, they just assumed their boat was in the wreckage.
She said after a few minutes of looking around they noticed it had broken loose from the dock before it collapsed and someone tied it up at another spot.
"It managed to escape. It's just really lucky. We're just really fortunate. The boat, I think the ropes broke loose and got pushed away before the canopy came on top of the other boats on that particular pier," said Roemer.
Marina officials said they still have a ways to go before they can get a full estimate of the damage.
