MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -
Mars Petcare US announced a voluntary recall of some Pedigree weight management dog foods.
BluePearl Veterinary Partners said the dog food posed a choking and digestive hazard due to possible chunks of plastic in the food.
Mars officials said the plastic broke off a conveyor belt during the production process.
A BluePearl doctor said the chunks could get lodged in the dog's digestive track and have to be removed surgically.
