KILLEN, AL (WAFF) -
Officials said it is the second time in two years a dock at Emerald Beach Marina has collapsed destroying nearly a dozen boats.
"When I heard the docks starting to collapse, I ducked inside the boat," said Richard Green.
Green was on his boat with his dogs and grandkids when the storm rolled through.
"We kept thinking it was going to pass over and all of a sudden, one big gust of wind came up and just picked up the entire docks and just flipped them," he said. "One of my boats actually held the roof up and we got out and called up here because the docks separated from the shoreline and we couldn't get off
Fire crews spent the evening searching through debris, cleaning up what was left.
"We're just real lucky that no one was hurt," said Green.
Andrew Butler lives less than a mile away. He and others went to look at damage and what was left on Emerald Beach.
"Astonishment at what had happened and it's kind of unbelievable," Butler said.
